One of the best features of modular construction is the ability to move the structure from one site to another as needed.

For many modular customers, adding a structure is a temporary solution to a short term goal. Modular building relocation services are often utilized by school districts that must rapidly respond to changing demographics such as increasing or decreasing class sizes.

With that in mind, USMGE offers a full range of services to support the transportation and relocation of buildings to or from your site.

Full Turnkey Process

Removal Process

  • Disconnect the modular structure from plumbing, electrical service and low voltage systems – such as fire alarms, phone/fax/network, public address systems and security systems. We also cap-off exterior connections and seal items in weatherproof boxes.
  • Removing and disposing of existing decks, steps and canopies. If a metal deck system, prepare for transport and re-installation at new location.
  • Remove skirting from around building. Dispose or ship to new location.
  • Separating modules from each other. Unseam roof, interior, and exterior mate line areas. Undo lag bolts connecting units. Disconnect electrical crossovers. Remove any mate line fixtures (i.e. furniture, site-built walls, cubicles, etc.)
  • Prepare running gear. Inspect and ensure proper working order of axles, wheels, tires and hitches. Attach any equipment that was removed at time of setup.
  • Remove buildings from their foundations. Raze existing foundation.
  • Prepare each module for shipment to it’s new location. Build bracing walls to protect integrity of the structure. Secure any loose items remaining inside unit for safe and secure transportation. Wrap units with weatherproof plastic to protect against the elements.
  • Backfill footer holes and/or patch impervious surface as needed.
  • Modular building transport. Ensure proper permitting had been obtained. Secure escorts if required.
  • Removal of rubble and debris. Use on-site dumpsters or take off site.
  • Site restoration: Fine and rough grading of site envelope to previous conditions.
  • Remove and dispose of asphalt pads at the ground level
  • Reseed and straw affected landscape areas. Restore features if desired.

Installation Process

  • Site Preparation: Both fine and rough grading of the area. Prepare substrate for safe, level work area. Fence off site for safety of crews and surrounding populations.
  • Setting asphalt pads at ground level.
  • Refurbish a currently deployed modular building, if necessary. Can make needed repairs before re-installation. Modifications to units can be done now or after setup.
  • Transport the module from either the factory or an existing deployment site. Receive units at new site. Temporarily stage and block units if not being set up immediately.
  • Prepare foundation. Designate pier positions per foundation plan. Dig footings if required.
  • Place the module in the correct position on the site. Level modules as needed prior to installation of next module.
  • Assembly and connection of modules into units. Seam interior and exterior. Electrical and plumbing interconnects.
  • Removal of hitches. Axles and tires may or may not be removed depending on height of the building.
  • Skirt entire modular complex.
  • Construction of decks, steps and canopies
  • Connect the structure to plumbing, electrical and low voltage systems
